Chef Russell Smith opened Alfreda in March of 2024. After nearly 20 years in fine dining Russell turned his focus to his latest obsession the craft of baking sourdough pizza. The approach to cooking at Alfreda is rooted in simplicity and freshness and the belief that food can connect people. The name Alfreda honors Russell's grandmother, who's stories of growing up on a farm during the great depression–and the close connection to the food she and her family raised– still shape the restaurant's philosophy today. With the support of his wife Alisa, CEO and founder of Safe Start Child, and their daughters, Lily and Aerin, Russell has built Alfreda into a space where the journey of pizza-making meets warm hospitality, a great cocktail program and a team that cares for every guest. Alfreda is about making the best pizza we can in a place that is welcoming and always getting better.
